Recipe for a Moon Circle on a Full or New Moon

Gather a couple of your friends. Or not. Fine to be by yourself. I personally do not care for Circles that are larger than about 7.

Wipe off the Dross of the outside world. Use sage, mugwort, Florida water, your imagination. Whatever delineates ordinary every day life from This.

Go over the Guidelines – these alone would do wonders for our world.

Close the Circle. Instead of opening a circle, I like to close it. Flipping things. Open/Close. Light/Dark. Happy/Sad. All two sides of the same coin. Establish a rim where you step inside another world closing the door behind you.

Use directions from Celtic, Wiccan, Native American tradition. Here are some you can use. Be respectful of cultures that are not your’s. If you borrow, be sure to give back. Or just center yourself with three breaths: one for the body, one for your mind and one for spirit.

Sing or drum chants preferably. A couple of songs. Again you are entering an altered state of Consciousness. Chants help. There are some in the resource section of the divine feminine app. Support the app or use a promocode TryItOut to get access to the Resource section. You can support the app in other ways than financially.

Acknowledge cycles, where we are in the Wheel of the Year, what the planets are doing above our heads.

Do a short ten minute meditation. Here is a YouTube playlist I use. Or Insight Timer is a good place to find them.

Play a song that is calling you while you draw cards. I like to do a Tarot draw of past, present, future. An overview Oracle card and a challenge Oracle card.

Tarot cards are not to be feared. I prefer to read my own. The important thing is what you see in the cards.

You already know the answers deep inside. Trust this. Or at least begin to.

I take a picture of my cards to come back to. I write them on a piece of paper with words that are calling me. On Full Moons, I go back to the New Moon of the same sign, uncanny how often they relate.

Write down your intentions, your thoughts. Words have such power.

If they are words you need to release, burn them.

Pass an object around as a talking stick and each person speaks for a couple of minutes, no interruptions, no advice. Find your own truth and speak it. But you have a responsibility to the Circle with this as well. Your speaking is of the intent to understand and to heal.

Themes are good especially as starting points. But I find Circles will take upon a life and theme of their own most times. Add two ingredients together and it becomes something else.

A second go around might be necessary if you have the time or desire. If you wish to speak to something that another said, ask first.

Dedicate the energy of the Circle to the theme that has arisen. Release the rim, thanking all who have come seen and unseen. And say a blessing. Have someone randomly pick one from a book such as the Goddess Devotional: a Prayerbook Honoring the Sacred by Molly Remer.

Repeat. On new and full moons or any time you wish.

Be sure to check out the divine feminine app a platform since 2016 to find Circles and resources with almost 11000 faces of the Goddess registered.
