Menstrual blood has been regarded as powerful and sacred in various traditions and historical contexts.

  1. Healing Properties: Menstrual blood contains stem cells and regenerative properties. Modern science is beginning to recognize its healing potential, which ancient cultures were already aware of. These stem cells from menstrual blood can be used in various ways to promote healing in the human body.
  2. Spiritual and Ritual Use: In ancient times, menstrual blood was associated with physical and mental power. It was considered a magical time for working with spells, manifestations, and rituals. For example, ancient Egyptians would ingest menstrual blood mixed with red wine to increase spiritual power. In ancient Greek festivals, especially in the spring, menstrual blood was sometimes spread across the earth or mixed with corn as part of fertility and renewal rituals.
  3. Pharmacological Uses: Menstrual blood was used in ancient pharmacology, primarily for women, to produce healing effects and pain relief.
  4. Empowerment and Connection: Some modern rituals and practices encourage connecting with menstrual blood as a source of empowerment, beauty, and self-care. For example, using reusable period products and engaging in mindful rituals can foster a sense of connection with one’s body and the earth, as well as resist consumerist culture.
  5. Physical Applications: There are historical references suggesting that menstrual blood was believed to have rejuvenating effects when applied to certain body parts, such as droopy breasts or a swollen stomach.

Overall, menstrual blood has been viewed as a source of life-giving, healing, and spiritual power across different cultures and eras.
