The divine feminine app seeks to connect us in our communities in manners that encourage the 'feminine side of God' providing balance to the world. Mother God demands no specific religion and no specific rules. When we gather with respect, love, compassion and open-hearts, She is there. The divine feminine app provides inspiration, education and connection not only locally but across the world.
Isis was celebrated in Greek and Roman lands, often syncretized with local deities and incorporated into local festivals and rituals. For example, in Egypt, her festivals included the Mysteries of Isis and Osiris, the Night of the Drop, and Isidis Navigatum, which were also celebrated in other Mediterranean regions, including Greece and Rome. These festivals involved processions, offerings, and rituals that honored her as a goddess of fertility, motherhood, and the sea. In Rome, she was invoked at the Sellisternia and known as Stella Maris, “star of the sea”.
Additionally, there was a broader trend of cross-pollination among goddesses in the ancient world, with Isis being worshipped alongside other major goddesses such as Kybele and Demeter in various locations, including Libya and Eleusis. This syncretism often led to the blending of rituals and attributes among these deities
Join Dr. Carla Ionescu this Saturday for a workshop explores the cult of Isis at Dion, where Egyptian and Greek religious traditions intersected at the foot of Mount Olympus. Using original site footage and artifacts from the Dion museum, we’ll examine how Isis was worshipped in this distinctive sacred landscape.
“She lives in the endless murmuring of the sea or streams; gleams and sparkles in the sheen of stones; laughs or whispers in the rustlings of leaves and dwells in the glow of sunlit things or the soft, silent shadows.”
This passage poetically describes Isis as present in the natural world, embodying the elements and the beauty of nature.
Author Ellen Cannon Reed was born on March 21, 1943. Ellen was a very active priestess, teacher and community leader for many years in Southern California. She became a member of the Fellowship of Isis in the 1970’s. Her lively exchanges on the Fellowship of Isis members online discussion group are greatly missed. Along with her many other accomplishments, she was also a well respected author. Her writings include a wonderful book about her work and experiences with the deities of ancient Egypt titled “Circle of Isis.”
Hymn to Nephthys (Isis’s Sister, often invoked together) “I am the darkness of the womb. I am thoughtful silence. I am the stillness of the tomb. Soft the sounds of wings in flight. I am the starlight in the night. I am the chorus of the breeze. Whispered winds through limbs of trees. I am thoughtful silence.” Nephthys, Nebet Het, Dark Lady of mystery.”
